From May 20 to 22, Opatija hosted Renewable Energy Sources of Croatia (RES Days 2026 / Dani OIE 2026), the largest national conference dedicated to renewable energy. Over three days, the city became a meeting point for the energy sector, bringing together experts to discuss the future of energy at a time when the topic is increasingly linked to security of supply, economic competitiveness, and affordability.

As part of the program, our director, Mirna Mazija, participated in the panel “Repowering RES – More Energy from Existing Infrastructure.”

The discussion focused on a increasingly relevant question: how to accelerate the modernization of existing facilities while ensuring clear rules for spatial planning, environmental protection, and asset management throughout their entire lifecycle.

The panel brought together diverse perspectives from across the sector. Alongside Mirna, the panel featured Giuseppe Costanzo (WindEurope), Branimir Ivković (ENCRO), and Margareta Premužić (Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets), with moderation by Marko Mećar (Attorney-at-Law, ZOU PVM).

As the energy sector continues to evolve, discussions like this show that the future of renewables will depend not only on new capacity, but also on making smarter, more efficient use of existing energy infrastructure.
